The National UFO Center has set up this reporting center so that the public can share as much information as possible concerning their UFO sighting. The answers given to the National UFO center are used for research purposes. The individual reporting the sighting will not have their name used in connection with any statements, conclusions or publications without their permission. Every UFO sighting is considered important because it adds one more piece to UFO puzzle; possibly the next report may lead to physical proof that UFOs exist!

Before a person files a UFO sighting report the most important thing they need to do is to collect as much information as they can about the sighting:

  1. If you witnessed the sightings with others make sure that you get their names and addresses so they can verify your story at a later time
  2. Write down every detail of the sighting, exact date, time, location, description of the object, shape, colour, how many objects were seen, and the duration of the sighting.
  3. Photographs or videotapes of the UFO sighting should be stored in a safe place for later examination. If you were unable to obtain any pictures try to draw a sketch of what you saw.
  4. If the UFO landed on the ground try to get a photograph of the area.
  5. Finally report the sighting as soon as possible while the event is clear in your mind. This allows for a better sighting report and investigators the opportunity to visit the sight soon after the event (if deemed necessary).
